H Mozilla διορθώνει σημαντικό κενό ασφαλείας με τον Firefox 3.6.2

H Mozilla διορθώνει σημαντικό κενό ασφαλείας παρουσιάζοντας εσπευσμένα τον Firefox 3.6.2. Για τους χρήστες των παλαιότερων εκδόσεων των Firefox, Thunderbird αλλά και SeaMonkey, θα υπάρξει patch που θα διορθώνει αυτό το κενό ασφαλείας και έχει προγραμματιστεί για κυκλοφορία στις 30 του μήνα, καθώς γίνονται εκτενείς δοκιμές για την αποτελεσματικότητά του.

Το πρόβλημα εντοπίστηκε από την Secunia και τον Evgeny Legerov, οι οποίοι δημοσίευσαν την ανακάλυψή τους και έπειτα έδωσαν τις απαραίτητες πληροφορίες στην εταιρία, αφήνοντας έτσι για κρίσιμο χρονικό διάστημα εκατομμύρια χρήστες απροστάτευτους σε ένα κενό ασφαλείας που επιτρέπει υπό συνθήκες την απομακρυσμένη εκτέλεση κακόβουλου κώδικα. Για αυτό το λόγο εχθές Γερμανικό κυβερνητικό γραφείο προειδοποίησε και προέτρεψε τους χρήστες στο να μην χρησιμοποιούν τον Firefox εώς ότου επιλυθεί το θέμα. Φαίνεται όμως πως μια τέτοια ανακοίνωση έκανε τους προγραμματιστές της Mozilla να επισπεύσουν τις εργασίες τους και επομένως και την κυκλοφορία του προγράμματος.
