Το GTA ως μέσο εκπαίδευσης σε σχολείο του Λίβερπουλ

Μαθητές στην επαρχεία του Μέρσεισαϊντ στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο μαθαίνουν για τη βία με την χρήση ενός παιχνιδιού που ίσως έχετε ακουστά οι περισσότεροι, του Grand Theft Auto IV. Σύμφωνα με το BBC, το αστυνομικό τμήμα του Μέρσεισαϊντ σε συνεργασία με τη φιλανθρωπική ομάδα Support After Murder and Manslaughter (aka «Υποστήριξη μετά από Δολοφονία και Ανθρωποκτονία»), οργάνωσαν ένα πρόγραμμα στα τοπικά σχολεία όπου διδάσκουν σε παιδιά ηλικίας δέκα και έντεκα χρονών την διαφορά μεταξύ σωστού και λάθους και επιπλέον την διάκριση μεταξύ αληθινού και ψεύτικου. Η SAMM ονομάζει τα εργαστήρια αυτά Get Real, ενώ χρησιμοποιεί εκτός από τον τίτλο της Rockstar και άλλα κομμάτια της σύγχρονης ποπ κουλτούρας όπως στιγμιότυπα από τις γνωστές σειρές κινουμένων σχεδίων Itchy and Scratchy και Simpsons ώστε να διδάξει τα παιδιά σχετικά με την κακή και καλή συμπεριφορά. Όλα τα παραπάνω συνδυάζονται και με φωτογραφίες  ατόμων σε κατάσταση μέθης ή γονιών που μαλώνουν με τους μαθητές να καλούνται να ξεχωρίσουν το καλό από το κακό, το αληθινό από το ψεύτικο.

«Σχεδόν κάθε μέσο μπορεί να επεξεργαστεί ώστε να γίνει εκπαιδευτικό και αν το υλικό τραβά την προσοχή των παιδιών μπορεί να έχει μεγαλύτερο αντίκτυπο σε αυτά», εξήγησε μέλος του Δημοτικού Συμβουλίου του Λίβερπουλ. «Αυτό μπορεί κάλλιστα να προβάλλει τους κλέφτες αυτοκινήτων που χρησιμοποιούν μαχαίρι σαν τους ηλίθιους εγωιστές που άλλωστε είναι, κάτι το οποίο είναι ευπρόσδεκτο», συνέχισε. Σύμφωνα με την Gaynor Bell, γονέα δύο παιδιών που δολοφονήθηκαν άγρια πριν μερικά χρόνια και συνιδρυτή της SAMM, τα παιδιά βρίσκονται μπροστά στον κίνδυνο να απευαισθητοποιηθούν στην βία από παιχνίδια όπως το Grand Theft Auto γι’ αυτό και στόχος του προγράμματος είναι να τους εξηγήσουν πόσο εύκολα το ψεύτικο μπορεί να γίνει αληθινό.

Φαίνεται ότι μετά από καιρό κατάλαβαν ότι οι απαγορεύσεις είναι αναποτελεσματικές. Ότι τα παιδιά θα μπορούν να βρίσκουν και να παίζουν αυτά τα παιχνίδια. Οπότε τι πιο λογικό από το να τους μάθουν τα βασικά. Σωστό το βρίσκω.
