Ανησυχητική αύξηση στους ιούς που μεταμφιέζονται σε αντι-ιικά προγράμματα


Αύξηση των ψεύτικων προγραμμάτων προστασίας που ξεγελούν τους χρήστες και μολύνουν τους υπολογιστές με ιούς καταγράφει η Google. Τα προγράμματα αυτά αντιστοιχούν πλέον στο 15% του συνόλου του κακόβουλου λογισμικού στο Διαδίκτυο, ποσοστό πέντε φορέςυψηλότερο από ό,τι στις αρχές του 2009.
Τα ψεύτικα αντι-ιικά εμφανίζονται συνήθως ως αναδυόμενα παράθυρα που προειδοποιούν το χρήστη ότι έχει μολυνθεί από ιούς. Αν αυτός κάνει το λάθος να κλικάρει το παράθυρο, ο υπολογιστής του μολύνεται με κώδικα που μπορεί να καταλάβει τον έλεγχο του συστήματος και να υποκλέψει ευαίσθητα δεδομένα.

Η έρευνα της Google, που κάλυψε το διάστημα Ιανουάριος 2009 - Φεβρουάριος 2010, έδειξε επίσης ότι τα ψεύτικα προγράμματα προστασίας αντιστοιχούν στο 50% του κακόβουλου λογισμικού που εξαπλώνεται μέσω διαδικτυακών διαφημίσεων.
Το φαινόμενο έχει γίνει πονοκέφαλος ακόμα και για μεγάλους δικτυακούς τόπους, οι οποίοι σε αρκετές περιπτώσεις αδυνατούν να ελέγξουν τις διαφημίσεις που «σερβίρουν» αυτόματα οι διαφημιστικές πλατφόρμες τους.

Όπως αναφέρει το CNet, η Google εξέτασε 240 εκατομμύρια ιστοσελίδες και αποκάλυψε πάνω από 11.000 διευθύνσεις που εμπλέκονται στη διάδοση ψεύτικων αντι-ιικών.
Οι διευθύνσεις αυτές εναλλάσσονται ταχύτατα για να αποφύγουν τον εντοπισμό τους από το σύστημα Safe Browsing (ασφαλής πλοήγηση) της Google, το οποίο λειτουργεί ενσωματωμένο στα προγράμματα Google Chrome και Mozilla Firefox.

Όπως επισήμανε ο Νιλς Πρόβος, μηχανικός λογισμικού της Google, τα αναδυόμενα παράθυρα των ψεύτικων αντι-ιικών είναι πια τόσο εξελιγμένα ώστε αναγνωρίζουν ποια έκδοση των Windows τρέχει ο υπολογιστής και προσαρμόζουν την εμφάνισή τους ώστε να φαίνονται όσο το δυνατόν πιο γνήσια.

Η καλύτερη μέθοδος προστασίας έιναι η πρόληψη, τόνισε ο Πρόβος. Σε περίπτωση που δουν να εμφανίζεται κάποιο ύποπτο αναδυόμενο παράθυρο, ο χρήστης πρέπει να κλείσει τον browser και να τον ανοίξει εκ νέου.

Σε περίπτωση που ο υπολογιστής μολυνθεί, η απομάκρυνση των ιών είναι πολύ δύσκολη πιθανότατα θα απαιτήσει την εκ νέου εγκατάσταση του λειτουργικού συστήματος.
