Εξαπύρηνος AMD πάνω από τα 6GHz

Δεν έχει βγει καλά-καλά στην αγορά, αλλά όπως συμβαίνει με όλους τους high-end επεξεργαστές της Intel και της AMD, η πρώτη ερώτηση στα χείλη πολλών είναι "πώς τα πάει στο overclocking"; Ο νέος Phenom II X6 1090T θα είναι για τους επόμενους μήνες η ναυαρχίδα της AMD, με έξι πυρήνες χρονισμένους στα 3.2GHz. Οι πρώτες δοκιμές στο overclocking είναι ιδιαίτερα ενθαρρυντικές, αν πιστέψουμε το άρθρο που αναρτήθηκε στη γερμανική ιστοσελίδα computerbase.de.

Σύμφωνα, λοιπόν, με τους Γερμανούς, ο νέος εξαπύρηνος της AMD άγγιξε την εντυπωσιακή συχνότητα των 6.3GHz σε όλους τους πυρήνες. Για να επιτευχθεί αυτό το σκορ, ο πολλαπλασιαστής ανέβηκε στο 26 (πρόκειται για μοντέλο Black Edition), ενώ το bus clock ανέβηκε στα 242MHz. Χρειάστηκε, βέβαια, επιπλέον ρεύμα, με το βολτάζ να δείχνει τελικά 1.928V. Όπως θα περίμενε κανείς, για την ψύξη χρησιμοποιήθηκε υγρό άζωτο.

Αναμένουμε νεότερες δοκιμές και ακόμη υψηλότερες επιδόσεις. Σε περίπτωση που το ρεπορτάζ των Γερμανών είναι αληθές, δε μπορούμε να πιστέψουμε ότι το overclocking του 1090T έπιασε "ταβάνι" από τώρα.

Copyright enforcement firm ACS:Law hit by embarrassing email leak

It's the weekend and Broadband Genie is enjoying a well-deserved break, but this story was too good to wait until Monday. ACS:Law, the infamous law firm which has been sending out dubious letters threatening to take people to court for file sharing, has had a massive database of its emails leaked onto the web. The ACS:Law web site was taken down by a denial of service (DDoS) attack earlier in the week, an event described by boss Andrew Crossley as "typical rubbish from pirates" . He's likely to have changed his tune now because someone discovered that before the site was restored a backup file containing the emails had been left in an open directory. Inevitably this was downloaded and widely distributed on file sharing networks. The collection includes the incoming and outgoing emails of Andrew Crossley and his employees, complete with attachments, and contains masses of information about how ACS:Law goes about its business and how much money it make...
