Η Google καταδικάζεται για δυσφήμιση

Το Google Suggest είναι ένα εργαλείο το οποίο οι περισσότεροι χρήστες του Internet βρίσκουν χρήσιμο ή στη χειρότερη περίπτωση αδιάφορο. Σίγουρα, όμως, η Google δε φανταζόταν ότι θα ερχόταν η μέρα που θα αναγκαζόταν να πληρώσει πρόστιμο για τις προτάσεις οι οποίες εμφανίζονται την ώρα που ο χρήστης πληκτρολογεί τους όρους της αναζήτησης.

Η γαλλική έκδοση της διάσημης μηχανής αναζήτησης εμφάνιζε προτάσεις όπως "βιαστής", "βιασμός" και "φυλακή" κάθε φορά που ένας χρήστης πληκτρολογούσε ένα συγκεκριμένο όνομα. Το όνομα αυτό ανήκει σε έναν άνδρα που έχει καταδικαστεί στο παρελθόν για κακοποίηση ανηλίκου. Ωστόσο, το δικαστήριο απεδέχθη τον ισχυρισμό του ότι η Google τον δυσφημεί κι επέβαλε πρόστιμο ύψους 5000 ευρώ στο διαδικτυακό κολοσσό.

Επιπλέον, η Google Γαλλίας υποχρεούται πλέον να αφαιρέσει τις προτάσεις που εμφανίζονται στην πληκτρολόγηση. Η εταιρεία, πάντως, είναι αποφασισμένη να ασκήσει έφεση, επιδιώκοντας να ανατρέψει την απόφαση. Όπως είπε εκπρόσωπός της, "το Google Suggest εμφανίζει τις πιο δημοφιλείς αναζητήσεις που σχετίζονται με τους όρους που εισαγάγει ο χρήστης", προσθέτοντας ότι το δικαστήριο παρερμήνευσε και δεν κατάλαβε πως οι προτάσεις αυτές δεν είναι προτάσεις της ίδιας της Google.
