Ένα πείραμα για τους κινδύνους των social networks

Ο Thomas Ryan από την εταιρειά Provide Security έκανε ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον πείραμα, με στόχο να διαπιστώσει πόσο εύκολα μπορούν να διοχετευτούν απόρρητες πληροφορίες στα social networks. Ο Ryan δημιούργησε ένα υποτιθέμενο προφίλ μιας 25χρονης κοπέλας με το όνομα Robin Sage και άρχισε να κινείται στο Facebook, το LinkedIn και το Twitter. Τα αποτελέσματα ήταν πολύ εντυπωσιακά και ιδιαίτερα διδακτικά.


Ο Ryan δημιούργησε το προφίλ της Robin Sage χρησιμοποιώντας τη φωτογραφία μιας ελκυστικής κοπέλας με πολλές γνώσεις στους υπολογιστές και αναφέροντας ως εργοδότη μια υπηρεσία πληροφοριών του αμερικανικού πολεμικού ναυτικού. Με λίγα λόγια, ο Ryan έφτιαξε ένα προφίλ παρόμοιο μ' αυτό της Abby από τη σειρά NCIS. Στη συνέχεια, άρχισε να δραστηριοποιείται στα τρία δημοφιλή δίκτυα κάνοντας φίλους από στρατιωτικές μονάδες, υπηρεσίες πληροφοριών και άλλους φορείς που σχετίζονται με την εθνική ασφάλεια.

Σε λιγότερο από ένα μήνα, η Robin Sage είχε πάνω από 200 φίλους στο κάθε δίκτυο. Πολλοί από τους νέους φίλους δε δίστασαν να μοιραστούν μαζί της προσωπικές πληροφορίες και φωτογραφίες, άλλοι την κάλεσαν σε διάφορα events, ενώ μερικοί έφτασαν σε σημείο να της στείλουν υπηρεσιακά έγγραφα, ζητώντας της να τα αξιολογήσει.

Ο Ryan υποστηρίζει ότι η επιτυχία της Robin Sage οφείλεται κυρίως στο γεγονός ότι ήταν μια όμορφη 25χρονη κοπέλα. Τα ευρήματα της έρευνας θα παρουσιαστούν την επόμενη εβδομάδα σε event για θέματα ασφαλείας που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Las Vegas.
