Θύματα κλοπής δεδομένων στο Battle.net

Αν παίζετε το StarCraft II αυτές τις μέρες, ο χειρότερος εχθρός σας δεν είναι οι αποτρόπαιοι Zerg, αλλά οι ακόμα πιο αηδιαστικοί και ασυνείδητοι phishers - απατεώνες που ξεγελούν τους χρήστες στέλνοντάς τους e-mail με πλαστά στοιχεία και έξυπνα πειραγμένο περιεχόμενο, ώστε να φαίνεται ότι το e-mail έρχεται από την Blizzard και κλέβουν τους λογαριασμούς τους στο Battle.net.
Ανάλογα την απάτη, το e-mail μπορεί να σας ζητήσει να μπείτε σε μια σελίδα που φαίνεται σαν να ανήκει στην Blizzard και να κάνετε log-in, κάτι που δίνει στους phishers το username και το password του λογαριασμού σας. Άλλες απάτες μπορεί να υπόσχονται δωρεάν Activation Keys αν κάνετε ξανά log-in σε μια ψεύτικη σελίδα.
Για να είστε ασφαλείς, πρέπει να τσεκάρετε πάντα τη διεύθυνση της σελίδας που βρίσκεστε, ώστε να επιβεβαιώνετε ότι το URL είναι όντως της Blizzard, αλλά και τις διευθύνσεις e-mail των αποστολέων. Και φυσικά να θυμάστε, ότι, όπως συμβαίνει και στις τραπεζικές απάτες, η πραγματική Blizzard δεν πρόκειται ποτέ να σας στείλει e-mail το οποίο θα ζητά τα στοιχεία του λογαριασμού σας στο Battle.net.
