Η Κίνα ανανεώνει την άδεια της Google

Οι σχέσεις Google-Πεκίνου έχουν περάσει από τα σαράντα κύματα τους τελευταίους μήνες, ωστόσο εδώ και λίγες ώρες διαφαίνεται μια αμυδρή πιθανότητα συμφιλίωσης ανάμεσα στα δύο αντιμαχόμενα στρατόπεδα. Όπως ανακοίνωσε ο επικεφαλής του νομικού τμήματος της Google, η Κίνα ανανέωσε τελικά την άδεια της εταιρείας κι έτσι η Google συνεχίζει να έχει παρουσία στην πολυπληθέστερη χώρα του κόσμου.

Η Google αντέδρασε πριν από αρκετούς μήνες στις πιέσεις του Πεκίνου για λογοκρισία στα αποτελέσματα της μηχανής αναζήτησης. Ως γνωστόν, κάποια θέματα είναι ταμπού στην Κίνα, όπως το Θιβέτ ή τα γεγονότα στην Πλατεία Τιενανμέν. Η Google αρνήθηκε να συμμορφωθεί και επέλεξε να ανακατευθύνει όλες τις αναζητήσεις στο site του Χονγκ Κονγκ.

Φυσικά, αυτό δεν ικανοποίησε καθόλου το καθεστώς του Πεκίνου, το οποίο απείλησε με ανάκληση της άδειας. Τελικά, η Google σταμάτησε την ανακατεύθυνση στο Χονγκ Κονγκ και η Κίνα ανανέωσε τελικά την άδεια λειτουργίας.

Η Κίνα έχει 400 εκατομμύρια χρήστες του Internet και ο αριθμός αναμένεται να ανέβει πολύ μέσα στα επόμενα χρόνια. Συνεπώς, η παραμονή της στην κινεζική αγορά ήταν ζήτημα υψηλής προτεραιότητας για την εταιρεία.
