Υπολογιστής θα συμμετάσχει σε ...τηλεπαιχνίδι

Η IBM ανακοίνωσε ότι ένας από τους υπερυπολογιστές της, ονόματι Watson, είναι πλέον έτοιμος να διαγωνιστεί σε ένα διάσημο αμερικάνικο τηλεπαιχνίδι. Το τεχνικό επιτελείο της IBM προετοιμάζει τον Watson εδώ και τρία χρόνια και φαίνεται ότι ήρθε τελικά το πλήρωμα του χρόνου για να δούμε μια μηχανή να αντιμετωπίζει ανθρώπους στο Jeopardy της Sony Pictures Television.

Το συγκεκριμένο τηλεπαιχνίδι προβάλλεται στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες από το 1964 και βασίζεται σε ερωτήσεις και απαντήσεις, ακολουθώντας όμως την αντίστροφη πορεία: οι παίκτες παίρνουν έτοιμη την απάντηση και δουλειά τους είναι να διατυπώσουν την ερώτηση.

Σύμφωνα με τους δημιουργούς του, ο Watson τα καταφέρνει αρκετά καλά στο κλασικό μοντέλο ερώτηση-απάντηση και θα έχει ενδιαφέρον να δούμε τώρα τις επιδόσεις του στις απαιτήσεις του Jeopardy. Σημειωτέον ότι ο Watson θα αντιμετωπιστεί με βάση τα ανθρώπινα κριτήρια, πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι θα πρέπει να είναι σε θέση να καταλάβει τη φυσική γλώσσα, όπως επίσης το χιούμορ και τα ευφυολογήματα του παρουσιαστή.
