Η Microsoft ζητεί τον εκσυγχρονισμό της νομοθεσίας για το διαδίκτυο

Να προχωρήσει στην ανανέωση δύο βασικών νόμων για τη λειτουργία του διαδικτύου, ζητεί από το αμερικανικό Κογκρέσο ο Αντιπρόεδρος και Γενικός Σύμβουλος της Microsoft Μπραντ Σμιθ. Ο αμερικανικός διαδικτυακός κολοσσός έχει προσχωρήσει σε "συνασπισμό" εταιριών και φορέων που ζητούν τον εκσυγχρονισμό του Συμφώνου ιδιωτικότητας στις Ηλεκτρονικές επικοινωνίες. Ο Σμιθ επιμένει και στην ανάγκη τροποποίησης και προσαρμογής στα νέα δεδομένα του Συμφώνου κατά της Απάτης και της Κατάχρησης του 1986, του ομοσπονδιακού νομοθετικού πλαισίου αντιμετώπισης ηλεκτρονικού εγκλήματος. Ο Αντιπρόεδρος της Microsoft υποστηρίζει ότι ο εκσυγχρονισμός των δύο Συμφώνων θα ενισχύσει την εμπιστοσύνη των χρηστών του διαδικτύου. Αρμόδιες επιτροπές της αμερικανικής Γερουσίας έχουν ήδη προχωρήσει σε ακροάσεις επί του θέματος, ενώ φαίνεται, σύμφωνα με δηλώσεις των μελών τους, να προσανατολίζονται στην κατεύθυνση της τροποποίησης των επίμαχων ρυθμίσεων. "Αυτή είναι μόνο η αρχή ενός διαλόγου, που πρέπει να συνεχιστεί για να ενισχυθεί η εφαρμογή σε ομοσπονδιακό επίπεδο αλλά και στους κόλπους των εταιριών που δραστηριοποιούνται στον κυβεροχώρο της σχετικής νομοθεσίας, δήλωσε ο επικεφαλής αρμόδιας συνταγματικής υποεπιτροπής, Τζέρολντ Νάντλερ.
